Anderson and Broadberry Dental

The Practice

Based in Sheffield, Anderson and Broadberry Dental Care is a mixed NHS and private practice with five surgeries. As an extremely busy practice, any transitions between technologies had to be completed quickly and efficiently.

IT Requirements

With intentions to migrate from an old practice management system, ‘Arthur’, to SoE EXact, the practice wanted to adapt to ‘fully clinical’. Arthur had been used as reception software only, so the practice wanted to update to EXact software throughout their services, with a smooth transition being vital. The practice manager and principal dentists recognised the value of investing in a stable, high end IT system for their infrastructure.

Integrated Solutions

Dental IT immediately started work on the practice over a weekend, installing CAT5e cabling throughout, followed by a dedicated server, backup systems, switch, printers, scanners and Internet access hardware. Using virtualisation technology, we were able to migrate their existing Arthur server to the new server, with no downtime or support issues.

Further installations included the setup of antivirus software, SoE EXact and Microsoft Office. The addition of Apple iMacs not only complemented the modern dental practice and treatment room, but also uses less surgery space, is much quieter and has less cabling.

A bespoke Dental IT SMS system was installed and configured, allowing the practice to send text messages with their mobiles, sourced from whichever network they chose. Text messages now cost less than 1p per message, compared to the previous 5-10p per message from other third party providers.

The Results

Anderson and Broadberry Dental Care now benefits from stable, predictable and efficient IT, having not suffered a minute of downtime from the server or any of the new workstations. Dental IT continues to monitor the needs of their system, proactively handling all updates, remote backup, system maintenance and configuration.
