Eckington Dental Practice is a busy, four-surgery, mixed NHS and private practice. They had been using Dentsys Paragon for some time but without the appointment book or clinical records. Having recently decided to migrate their DPMS from Dentsys Paragon to SoE EXact, they approached Dental IT for their hardware and infrastructure needs.
The current DPMS was front of house only, and an entirely new network infrastructure was required for SoE EXact to operate successfully. The practice also required wall-mounted monitors in each of the surgeries, a POS electronic till and receipt system, a new dedicated server and well-specified printers, scanners and a label printer for reminders.
Our experienced cabling engineers introduced Cat5e cabling throughout the practice to accommodate the new network and systems. The upstairs office was fitted with a wall-mounted communications cabinet, at the same time as the installation of secondary monitors in each of the surgeries. Flexible wall mounts allowed for patient viewing and all cabling was hidden out of sight. Such a busy practice demanded a high spec HP ProLiant ML370 for the server, a full Windows domain setup with Microsoft Exchange and additional security software. We installed an industrial, secure firewall and handled all broadband orders and setups. Workstations fronted Apple iMac hardware with reinstalled Microsoft Windows, allowing for excellent, modern and minimal surgery workstations, as well as looking professional for patients. All configurations, creation of staff accounts, email accounts and shared areas were carried out by Dental IT to save the practice time and ensure a smooth transition. We rolled out SoE EXact in preparation for the configuration by the software company and all printers and scanners were supplied by Dental IT; with colour and mono laser printers setup at reception and a scanner to handle radiographs. We also supplied and installed a POS system in addition to label printers.
The installation at Eckington Dental Practice was extremely organised and ensured the smooth integration of the new systems without a single technical issue. The practice will enjoy their dedicated technology systems for many years to come.
