Harrison Curphey


Can you introduce yourself?

My name's Harrison. I'm an apprentice IT Support Engineer with previous experience with Computing and Programming.


What's your day-to-day like at Dental IT?

Busy and filled with variety! No two days are ever the same.


What makes working in the dental industry rewarding?

How friendly customers can be.


What makes working in the dental industry challenging?

Dealing with many different kinds of systems and electronics specific to the dental industry.


What has been the highlight during your time at Dental IT?

Learning even more about the field of IT.


What’s the best thing about working at Dental IT?

The variety of tasks day-to-day. Things are always kept interesting.


How has COVID-19 affected your work?

Working from home has allowed me to think and work more independently.


Who is your favourite customer and why?

Gary St Pierre. Always very friendly!


What has been the hardest thing to learn in your role?

Networking, I had no previous experience in this but have found it fun to learn.


What do you like about working in Sheffield and Hathersage?

I'm not from around here so learning more about the city is great.


What do you like to do in your spare time?

Typically play games, read, and go for walks.


What's the most exciting technology you work with?

Servers.


What's the funniest query/problem you have had on the helpdesk?

A request for assistance with browser zoom.


What's the hardest problem you have had to work on?

A printer that, no matter what was done, just refused to connect!


What's the longest night you have ever worked and why?

Not long, but I'd stay back in order to roll out software from time to time.


And finally, tell us something about you that we might not know?

I've a passion for music. Listening, occasionally making, and playing games surrounding it.
